On Wednesday, the community came out in support of the new Venue at the Park at Nanih Waiya Community Park. This beautiful structure is intended to be a place where weddings, parties, and other social events may be held. It is already booked for a number of weddings, and the Nanih Wayia Prom 2025 was held at The Venue.

However, Wednesday was the ribbon cutting event, made possible by the Louisville/Winston Chamber of Commerce. Multiple members of city and county leadership were on tap for the official opening and tour of the facility.

The Venue is situated at the rear of the park property, nestled in pines, and sits facing a peaceful pond. The 6500 square foot facility offers a bridal room, a groom's room, ADA accessible bathrooms, and a covered outdoor area. There are smart TVs across the facility; EMEPA Connect 100 mps is available to users

Ellis Houston, who has been instrumental in The Nanih Waiya Community Park from its beginnings, spoke to visitors who attended the ribbon-cutting Wednesday. "The two front Dormers and the Cathedral ceilings both inside and out are covered in beautiful Canadian knotted white pine tongue and groove wood. The inside Cathedral ceiling has an 18 foot pitch. The outside Cathedral ceiling has a 26 foot pitch." Houston lauded the work of the contractor, James Moffitt as well as the dedication of Tammy Parkes, who has seen the project from its inception to taking on a leadership role in booking events at The Venue.

Parkes also showed appreciation for Houston and for Moffitt in their roles in getting The Venue built. She noted that she already has a wedding booked for June.
