Reb Men's Basketball Finishes Best Season in 24 Years

The Ole Miss Men's Basketball team's season came to end last night with a heartbreaking 73-70 defeat to the Michigan State Spartans. It was a tight contest throughout the entire night. The last ten minutes of game time saw each team regain the lead with each possession with the Spartans being able to hold on to the lead in the last minute and half to move on to the Elite 8.

The Rebel fans and men on the floor did not want the season to come to end last night. This year's Sweet 16 push is the deepest run the Rebs have had in 24 years, and their 24-12 record is one the best in the same span.

Chris Beard, head coach, said in his postgame presser how thankful he was for the 24-25 Rebel Team, "I'm just so thankful for these guys to be in the Sweet 16 in our second year at Ole Miss. [I give credit to] the players that endured the coaching change, stuck with us, and decided to come back this year and play with us. I'm just thankful."

This season should give the Rebel faithful something to look forward to in the years to come. This is the type of season Reb fans were expecting when Beard and his staff came on board two years ago. In Beard's two seasons, He has led the team to two straight 20+ win seasons and a NCAA tournament appearance. Both accomplishments are the first since the 2018-2019 season.
