Funeral services for Mr. Charles Files will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at McClain-Hays Chapel. Bro. Charles Rook and Bro. Jerry Lundy will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12,2025  from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.


Charles Files, a native of the Winston County community, passed away at the age of 88 after a fulfilling life dedicated to family, friendship, and the great outdoors. Born and raised in Winston County, Charles spent 32 years contributing his talents to Spartus Corp. in Louisville before retiring.


An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, and nothing brought him more joy than family gatherings filled with laughter and love, particularly with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Charles is survived by his daughters, Pam (Junior) Burnham of Louisville and Kaye (Donnie) Neese of Philadelphia; his sons, Billy Charles Files of Noxapater and Ray (Tonya) Files of Stonewall. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Joyce Williamson and Barbara (Paul B.) Sullivan, both of Philadelphia, a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Barbara Hare of Louisville.


He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline Files; his daughter, Reba Fay Files; granddaughter, Christie Thomas; his parents, Oliver and Ethel Taylor Files; and siblings, Ollie Sue Easterwood, Oliver Files Jr., Leon Files, and James Files.


Charles will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the joy he brought to the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.


Pallbearers are Daniel Parker, Junior Burnham, Jamie Mayo, James Files, Justin Burnham and John David Marshall.


Honorary pallbearers are. Donnie Ray Neese, Jimmy Files, Rusty Burnham, Michael Burnham and William Watson.
